Sharing two songs from an old Hindi movie, which are composed on the same tune, yet the lyrics are divergent, with one full of pessimism, while the other one reels of optimism...Interestingly, I only remember knowing of the first version (the sad one), in my childhood when I used to hear it on cassette player, but after several years, I discovered that the same song was existing with its counterpart, the antithesis, so-to-speak. I wonder how it is so much like life, where sometimes, we are dealt with a melody or a tune which is unchangeable, but we do have the power to choose the verses or the words that create the lyrics to fit that tune...One of them resonates with sorrow while the other is a harbinger of light and hope....as Munshi Premchand has said "what the world calls sorrow is really joy to the poet"..Truly, sorrow is necessary as it can be beautiful, but the same sorrow also becomes beautiful hope when played on the same tune by different choice of words...
