Love Songs of longing: Beautiful similarities

I am sharing some of very beautiful melodies (all Hindi), particularly as there is a common chord in all of them as they all are songs based on longing and search for the one (Beloved) by the other one (who has not yet crossed paths with the other). The first two are from the eyes of the female (as in searching incessantly for the other half) while the remaining are from the eyes of the male. Interestingly, all songs are the ones I have always listened to and thought of putting them together as the lyrics illustrate the depth of emotions and are one of the finest poetries I have come across.

1.

Nazren Dhoondhe Saajan Ko {HD} Video Song | Hameshaa | Saif Ali Khan, Kajol | Alka Yagnik, Ila Arun

This song is from an amazingly haunting movie (which has one of the most melodious soundtracks I have heard) and as per the storyline, it is based on the heroine's incessant longing for the beloved. The lyrics are simple and profound...

The lyrics are:

"nazre nazre dhunde dhunde sajan ko
hay hay ram dhunde dhunde sajan ko
ye bindiya bole aaja, ye kangna bole aaja
payaliya bole aaja aaja
na tarsa apni sajni ko

pawan ke jhoke goli mare
pee ki yaad dilaye
sajna se ye sawre badra
sawan me ghir aaye
holi aaye holi jaye
ab jali holi holi
rang baithi hu sajna ke rang me
apni chunariya choli
aayi diwali sabke bhawan me
lakho deep jalaye
nainan deep jalakar baithi
bina palak jhapkaye
rahi re dhunde dhunde sajan ko
hay hay ram dhunde dhunde sajan ko
ye nathni bole aaja, ye mehndi bole aaja
ye kajal bole aaja aaja
na tarsa apni sajni ko

nazre dhunde dhunde sajan ko
hay hay ram dhunde dhunde sajan ko.."

Intezaar Anuradha Paudwal , Paap 2003

This song present at the very start of the captivating movie Paap (2003), is a poetry in motion, such a depth of words....The song is  illustrating the longing of the heroine (played by Udita Goswami) who is working in a monastery to train for a monk but deep down is a poet who values true love and wants to take the path of love instead of renouncing it (as per Buddhist traditions), and actually illustrates the purity of her emotions (contrary to the title of the movie which can be misleading).

The soulful lyrics are as follows:

"Meri subahon ko teri shaamon ka

Meri shaamon ko tere vaadon ka

Meri raaton ko tere khwaabon ka

Meri neendon ko teri baahon ka

Mere jazbon ko teri chahon ka

Behki behki si kuch khataon ka

Khoobsurat se kuch gunaahon ka

Intezaar, intezaar, intezaar, intezaar

Apne dilbar ka, apne humdum ka,

apne jaanam ka intezaar

Surkh phoolon se mehka rasta hai

Dil toh mera magar zard patta hai

Paas aankhon ke sabz manzar hai

Dil ka mausam toh phir bhi banjar hai

Mehki mehki si kuch hawaon ka

Bheegi bheegi si kuch ghataon ka

Intezaar, intezaar, intezaar, intezaar

Apne baadal ka, apni baarish ka, apne saawan ka intezaar

Apni dhadkan ka, apni saanson ka, apne jeene ka intezaar

Koi badli kabhi is tarah aayegi

Pyaas sadiyon ki pal mein bujh jayegi

Tujhko lauta ke meri aagosh mein

Dekhna waqt ki nabz tham jayegi

Aisa hone ki kuch duaon ka

Umr bhar joh mile un panahon ka

Intezaar, intezaar, intezaar, intezaar

Tere aane ka, tujhko paane ka, phir na jaane ka intezaar

Tere aane ka, tujhko paane ka, phir na jaane ka

Intezaar………"

Aye Ajnabi Tu bhi kabhi (HD) Full Video song

This song (composed by AR Rahman) with its hauntingly beautiful tune and lyrics is a very popular song from the movie Dil Se. Here are its lyrics:

"Roz Roz Resham Si Hawa Aate Jaate Kehti Hai Bata

Resham Si Hawa Kehti Hai Bata

Woh Jo Doodh Dhuli Masoom Kali

Woh Hai Kahan Kahan Hai

Woh Roshni Kahan Hai Woh Jaansi Kahan Hai

Main Adhoora Tu Adhoori Jee Rahein Hain

Aye Ajnabi Tu Bhi Kabhi Aawaaz De Kahin Se

Main Yahan Tukdon Mein Jee Raha Hoon

Tu Kahin Tukdon Mein Jee Rahi Hai

Tu To Nahin Hai Lekin Teri Muskurahatein Hain

Chehra Kahin Nahin Hai Par Teri Aahatein Hain

Tu Hai Kahan Kahan Hai

Tera Nishaan Kahan Hai

Mera Jahan Kahan Hai

Main Adhoora Tu Adhoori Jee Rahein Hain"

4.  Jaane Kisne - Chetan Shashital, Shiamak Davar | Love Song

This is a famous pop song of the 90s era and luckily its original video was available online. The song was sung by Shiamak Davar who is more popularly known for his choreography all over the world although he is an amazing singer and a spiritually inclined person... He is blessed with beauty and a unique voice tone which is very soothing. In the song video, he is shown as the musician he is, playing the piano, and composing a song but always having the search for the one back in his mind, as the lyrics depict..and finally he does find that woman...

"Kiski Khusboo Hai

Meri Saanson Mein

Mehki Mehki Si

Jaani Jaani Si

Dil Tha Abhi Seene Mein

Isko Churaya

Jaane Kisne

Kiski Surat Hai

Meri Aakhon Main

Halki Halki Si

Pyari Pyari Si

Dil Tha Abhi Seene Main

Isko Churaya

Jaane Kisne

Woh Kaun Hai Jiske Aahon Ko Takti Hai Nazar

Woh Kaun Hai Jisne Kiya Hai Mujhko Khud Se Bekhabar

Woh Kaun Hai Hai Mere Pal Pal Mein Shamil Hai

Woh Kaun Hai Jo Meri Manzil Hai

Woh Kaun Hai Jise Mein Sunna Chahta Hoon Dekhna Chahta Hoon

Mere Kaano Main

Goonjti Hai Jo

Meethi Meethi Si Kiski Boli Hai

Dil Tha Abhi Seene Main

Isko Churaya

Jaane Kisne

Kiski Khusboo Hai

Meri Saanson Mein

Mehki Mehki Si

Jaani Jaani Si

Dil Tha Abhi Seene Mein

Isko Churaya

Ban Ke Saaya Mere Sang Rehta Hai Kaun

Maine Ye Na Jana Kabhi

Aisa Na Tha Haal Mera

Haal Ye Mera Hua Hai Abhi

Woh Khwab Hai Ya Haqeeqat Hai

Woh Jo Bhi Hai Meri Zaroorat Hai

Zaroorat Hai"

O Saathi Re Tere Bina (Male) Full 4K Video | Muqaddar ka Sikandar | Rekha/Amitabh | Kishore Kumar

This is a song from an old Hindi movie which was a very famous movie in that era. This song was sung by the legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar, and I remember having this song playing in the cassette with my other favorite songs in my childhood. The intensity of emotions of the lyrics and the music of this song is simply sublime.

Har dhadkan me pyaas hai teri

Saanso me teri khushboo hai

Is dharti se us ambar tak

Meri nazar me tu hi tu hai

Pyar ye tute na, tu mujhse ruthe na

Saath ye chhute kabhi na

Tere bina bhi kya jina

O saathi re, tere bina bhi kya jina

Tujh bin jogan meri rate

Tujh bin mere din banjare

Mera jeevan jalti dhuni

Bujhe bujhe mere sapne sare

Tere bina meri, mere bina teri

Ye zindagi zindagi na

Tere bina bhi kya jina

O saathi re,

Tere bina bhi kya jina…”
